Sakura was an ordinary 10 year old girl until she found the book of the Clow Cards and learned of the magic within herself. Then she became Card Captor Sakura, whose job is to catch all of the clow cards. Once she has them all, and if she can keep them, she will be a powerful sorceress!

Sakura loves sports, roller-blading, cheerleading and animals. She is in the fourth grade at the start of the series, and math is her least favorite subject is math. Tomoyo and Kero-Chan are her best friends. Salura is very kind hearted and tries to put others above herself. She is also very courageous, except when it comes to ghosts, thanks to her brother's teasing.

Sakura lives with her father, Fujitaka, and brother, Touya. Her mother, Nadeshiko, died when Sakura was three years old, but she still lovers her mom very much because Fujitaka has told her so much about her. She loves her father for his kind heart and her brother, though he teases her a lot.

At the start of the series, Sakura is in love with her brother's best friend Yukito. As time goes by, Sakura comes to realize that Yukito will always see her as a sister. Once she has gotten past her feelings for Yuki (though she will always love him), she is able to fall for her "destined" love, Shaoran.
